Polynase D Eye Ointment 5gm belongs to a combination of medicines called ‘antibiotics’ primarily used to treat bacterial infections of the eye (optic) and ear (otic). A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria grows in the body and causes infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly. Polynase D Eye Ointment 5gm does not work against infections caused by viruses and fungus.

Polynase D Eye Ointment 5gm is a combination of three drugs, namely: Polymyxin B, dexamethasone, and chloramphenicol. Polymyxin B is bactericidal, which kills the bacterial cell by preventing bacterial cell wall formation essential for their survival. Chloramphenicol is bacteriostatic, which prevents bacteria’s growth by inhibiting the production of essential proteins necessary for bacteria to grow, multiply, and increase in numbers. Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation and symptoms associated with infection such as redness and irritation by inhibiting the natural substance like prostaglandins that cause inflammation. Thus together, Polynase D Eye Ointment 5gm prevents the spread of redness, allergies, inflammation, and bacterial infection in the eyes.

Use Polynase D Eye Ointment 5gm as prescribed by your doctor. Polynase D Eye Ointment 5gm is only intended for use in the eye/ear. Do not swallow or inject Polynase D Eye Ointment 5gm. You are advised to use Polynase D Eye Ointment 5gm for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience redness, itching, irritation, burning or stinging sensation in the eyes, blurred vision. Most of these side effects of Polynase D Eye Ointment 5gm do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects worsen or persist, please consult your doctor.
